Refurbishment and Extension
This renovation and extension for a private client took an old farmhouse and proposed to fully reorganise and renovate the building to both celebrate the original centuries old cottage and provide a modern and light family house. The project utilised the site levels and various age and styles of building as the original cottage was modernised through its history.
The final proposals include 3 new elements; the first extends the ground floor kitchen/dining space with the added bonus of providing a new terrace from the master bedroom, the second reorganises the entrance to give shelter and legibility, the third adds a new bedroom and bathroom to the rear of the property and encloses a south facing courtyard.
Internally we moved the staircase to give the house a much needed hall space that includes a full height gallery, refurbished 3 existing bedrooms and improved the overall flow and relationships between the spaces in the house.
